# How does exit intent work?

> Show a notification when visitors are about to leave your website.

Exit intent detects when a visitor moves their cursor toward the browser's close or back button. At that moment, TinyBell shows your notification as a last chance to convert them.

## How to enable exit intent

1. Open your notification settings
2. In the **Trigger** section, select **Exit intent**
3. Save your changes

## Does it work on mobile?

Exit intent on mobile works differently. Since there is no cursor, TinyBell detects when the user scrolls up quickly (a common behavior before leaving a page) or when they switch tabs.

## Best practices

* Use exit intent for your strongest offer (highest discount or most compelling deal)
* Keep the popup simple: one headline, one CTA button
* Do not combine exit intent with page-load triggers on the same notification
* Show each exit intent popup only once per session to avoid annoying visitors
